Lead Service Line Inventory (LSLI)
On October 8th, 2024, the EPA issued a rule requiring drinking water systems across the country to identify and replace lead pipes within 10 years. To do so, professional Lead Service Line Inventory (LSLI) services must be performed to determine which pipes need replacing.
How it Works
CES is experienced in identifying lead pipes on both the utility & private side of the water meter. Our capabilities allow us to perform the necessary tests to identify pipe material quickly and quietly.
After exposing the pipe, if we cannot visually confirm the material of the pipe, we will perform several tests to determine the type of pipe, including:
- Scratch test
- Magnet test
- Swab/spray test
Data That Drives Informed Decisions
All data collected is transferred electronically to GIS or another shared platform that can be used by all parties involved.
Data Report for Each Address Includes:
- Pipe diameter and material (lead, copper, galvanized, PEX, PVC, polyethylene)
- Several types of photos for each address, including: worksite before/after digging and exposed pipe
