CES demos new Quickview zoom camera for the City of Baton Rouge

Compliance EnviroSystems (CES) and Jacobs Engineering demo EnviroSight’s Quickview zoom camera for the City of Baton Rouge on Tuesday, March 26th, 2019 in Southdowns, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Kelly Latchie and Ryan Cefalu of Compliance EnviroSystems prepare to use the Quickview zoom camera to inspect sewer lines from a manhole in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

CES recently obtained a new zoom camera to aid in the assessment of sewer lines for the City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge, Department of Environmental Services. CES’s investigative services for this project support the sewer rehabilitation and design efforts of Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc.

The zoom camera can inspect up to 400 FT of pipe, delivering an instant, wireless HD view into any sewer. The high-powered zoom optics identify blockages, such as grease deposits and root intrusions. It also comes with a laser rangefinder, which gives the distances to the obstructions and a touchscreen tablet interface, allowing control, viewing, annotation, and playback, as explained on Envirosight’s website.

Ryan Cefalu of CES shares the video playback of the Quickview inspection with Obie Watts of Jacobs Engineering, and Baton Rouge City officials, including Director of Environmental Services, Richard Speer, and Paul Nata of DPW.

This tool is ideal for the first phase of sewer system evaluation surveys (SSES). The quick analysis helps CES prioritize cleaning, CCTV, and pre and post root and grease treatment. It can be used to check on repeat offenders, (i.e., grease blockages) and for following up on sewer system overflows (SSOs) to quickly determine causes. It’s also useful where blockages may limit crawler access or if a user is trying to determine a quick assessment of pipe without using CCTV.

The map linked below is a sample of a CES deliverable that would accompany a zoom camera inspection.
