Mr. Smith brings over twenty-five (25) years of Wastewater Management and Technical Environmental Evaluation experience to Compliance EnviroSystems. He holds a BS in Zoology with a minor in Chemistry. He worked towards his Masters in Marine Biology. Mr. Smith holds the highest level of Wastewater Certification offered by the State of Louisiana. He is often a guest lecturer for Water, Wastewater, and Environmental Organizations. His interest and career in Environmental Management began as a Biologist for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries where he was assigned to the Water Pollution Control Division. In this position he was trained in sophisticated laboratory procedures where pesticides and industrial discharge samples were monitored to assure compliance with discharge permits, and to insure illegal or banned pesticides were not polluting scenic streams and waterways. This division of the LWFC has since evolved into the Department of Environmental Quality.
Mr. Smith worked as the Wastewater Collection System Manager for the City of Baton Rouge where he headed and managed the second largest collection system in Louisiana. As Manager of this system his duties included administrative management for the Division of Wastewater Collections. The task and responsibilities of this Public Works Division were two phases. The first was providing parish wide maintenance services for approximately 1600 miles of collection system piping. The second was providing direction and construction management for the Sewer Improvements Program.
In performing these duties Mr. Smith gained invaluable experience in all areas of wastewater system evaluation. His hands-on experience and participation in the management of flow monitoring, flow modeling, television inspection, high pressure cleaning, smoke testing, and sonic caliper mapping projects are now provided to clients of Compliance EnviroSystems.
While managing the massive sewer rehabilitation program for the City/Parish, Mr. Smith gained a thorough knowledge of various rehabilitation methods, products, and procedures. These include trenchless technologies, manhole rehabilitation techniques, and utilization of advanced data management and geographic information systems.
As an officer of Compliance EnviroSystems, Mr. Smith is responsible for marketing, business development, client relations, technical project management, contract negotiations, and company direction.
