 Dye flooding is most commonly used to find direct and indirect cross connections between storm drains and sanitary sewers. Field tests can be used in conjunction with CCTV to identify the precise location of the defect. Dye flooding can be used to locate defective service connections that allow rainwater into the sewer system. It can be used to locate cracks in the sewer lines or in manholes. Dye flooding can also be used as a quick determination to see if a cavity is sewer related.
